There are about 80 pieces that use euphonium in orchestra, but maybe only ten that are played with any frequency. Euphonium players aren't typically paid on the regular roster of a professional orchestra, but may be called in when the orchestra plays one of the pieces that calls for the instrument.

The euphonium is mainly a band instrument (rather than an orchestra or jazz instrument). The euphonium can also be found in Marching Bands and is used as a solo instrument.

The euphonium is rarely used in an orchestra. The Trombone and horn usually covers the mid voice with the tuba taking on the bass and of course the trumpets taking the highest voice
