Jackson guitars are usually high-quality. On the other hand, Epiphone is to Gibson what Squire is to Fender. That means that Epiphone is the lower quality, less desirable subdivision of Gibson. Gibson created the brand Epiphone to sell cheaply-made guitars. You will pay far more for an Epiphone than it's really worth simply because it's "authorized by Gibson". When you get a Jackson, you are actually getting a quality guitar. You get your money's worth out of a Jackson, whereas with an Epiphone you're paying a lot extra just because it's a part of Gibson. With Jackson, you get much more for your money. If you're trying to choose between the two, I would most definitely tell you to get a Jackson. I'm not saying that you're wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Jackson guitars are now made by fender. Which to my knowledge qualifies them as a subdivision. But I totally think Jacksons are better. But when you realy think about it, it's all a matter of opinion. Jackson guitars are awesome for metal, and they normally sound good, when you play them through an amp with decent distortion. But Epiphones are made for music more along the lines of what gibsons are made for, which is less heavy, and less distortion. I play an epiphone flying V, and it plays awesome. They are less expensive, but In my opinion they're just as good as gibsons. Jackson guitars don't' really come cheap either.
-------------------------------------
GIBSON DID NOT 'CREATE' EPIPHONE TO SELL CHEAPLY MADE GUITARS, EPIPHONE WAS ACQUIRED BY GIBSON IN 1957...EPIPHONE GUITARS, VIOLINS AND LUTES HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR 130 YEARS......AND YOUR RIGHT....JACKSON GUITARS ARE VERY NICE...BUT THEY ARE MADE FOR HEAVIER MUSIC....EPIPHONES ARE MADE FOR BLUES, ROCK, COUNTRY AND RECORDING....JACKSON, WELL, ONLY HEAVY METAL....ANYONE CAN POST ANYTHING THEY WANT ON THE INTERNET....JUST DO A LITTLE RESEARCH FIRST
WHOEVER WROTE THE FIRST POST UP TOP REALLY HAS NO IDEA WHATS GOING ON...OR HAS NEVER PLAYED AN EPIPHONE BEFORE
THIS IS A LIST OF ARTIST WHO PLAY/PLAYED EPIPHONES
I HIGHLY DOUBT JACKSON CAN LAY CLAIM TO SUCH A LARGE AND DIVERSE GROUP OF MUSICIANS.....note, THE BEATLES ALL PLAYED EPIPHONES, BOB MARLEY, ZAKK WYLDE, JOAN OSRBOURNE, OUR LADY PEACE, JANES ADDICTION, LYNARD SKYNARD, WILLY NELSON AND MARILYN MANSON.....THESE ARE ALL PEOPLE THAT COULD HAVE AFFORDED ANYTHING THEY WANTED....INCLUDING GIBSON,BUT PLAYED EPIPHONES, GIBSON DOESNT MAKE EPIPHONE, THEY OWN THEM
FENDER MAKES SQUIER, AND MAKE THEM POORLY.....AND IN MY EXPERIENCE DON'T HOLD A CANDLE TO EPIPHONE.

The first problem here is the question - You cannot compare Jackson and Epiphone today as you may have years ago -Epiphone is now a part of Gibson and the previous poster just did not read far enough into the history on the Epiphone page. Gibson does sell its budget versions of its higher end guitars under the Epiphone name. They do also sell as far as I know original Epiphone models, new models and such. I am not saying they are not good quality or anything of that nature - read on.
Basically all the manufacturers these days have lower lines, mid lines, and top end stuff. Fender obvioulsy has the squire line and top end Fender USA stuff - Unless something has changed if it is not a Fender USA it is manufactured in Mexico. That means production line and not hand made.
Jackson is no different they have the lower end, mid and of course USA made - Again the lower to mid range are manufactured on production lines much different than what we got back in the days of the custom Charvel and Jackson stuff.
If you want the top end of any of the manufacturers your looking at a min of $1000 or so for those currently on the shelf and its been a while but probably closer to $3000 for custom and top end stuff.
If you are looking at the lower dollar stuff which is still good stuff - I personally have been playing for 25 years and have played lots of models from all the manufactures listed above. They all have great guitars in the various price points.
In my opinion previous posters should put a little more thought to what they recommend and try to help rather than pushing or trying to validate a brand. I really don't care who plays a guitar or how many people play a brand. The best thing a new player can do is sit down at a decent music store and play as many guitars as you can - Can you say guitar center - Play some jacksons, Fenders, Gibsons, Ibanez and so on - and decide what you like best about the feel and sound of the guitar - It might be wize to research specific brands and model classses to know where the pricing levels are and what to expect from those levels. I would set a budget then define what models to look at from each brand at that price point.

Jackson. Always Jackson. Some people think if its not name brand or a division of name brand like, epiphone to Gibson, it is worthless piece of crap. they are wrong. Jackson's have a tremolo unlike epiphnones or Gibsons. the Jackson is the best because of the Floyd rose tremolo and locking system.
One More Thing,
While I can uphold most of what has been said in this post, A bad Epi is still a Gibson. Better yet, this is mostly all opinion of the posters and you really do need to PLAY a guitar. I own an Epi Les Paul and a Jackson Dinky, I love both for different reasons. Action, sound, size and weight. A Jackson is always going to be lighter han just about ANY Gibson or Epi, good thing to know if you're gonn play on stage or just extended jamming sessions. But most of all congrats for wanting to get a kller axe and join the ranks of the metal nation!

Supervisor here. Please be careful with your' opinions. You might remind question writers of this fact when your' post is so strong. Cap lock all the way through an answer might be misunderstood as aggression.
well yeah they are! Some consider them to be some of the best Guitars on the market. It really depends on your playibility and the genre of music that you listen to, getting a middle range jacksons are from like 400-800 dollars but i have played many and loved them all, doesnt help that im a big metal fan :) but yeah there amazing.
I'd say Jackson.
i think Jackson are much better purely because of the hardware that comes with it. i can get an amazing tone out of my Jackson guitar, nice distortion, nice clean drive and it is so easy to play. fender are good if you buy really expensive £800 guitars but even then i think Jackson guitars are better.
i own a Jackson DKMG Worth £500. and believe me, when you buy one, every other guitar is horrible. I'm looking to keep my DKMG for a very long time.
Yes, Jackson are a very Repuatble brand, Well Built Look Great, Sound Friggin' Amazing
Many Guitarists use them, Dave Mustaine from Megadeth, Randy Rhoads, Late Guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne and many more, Check out their website
It's all personal preference. I personally prefer Jacksons more, but I also love Ibanezes.
rlly neither 1 they both rlly great to be honest i think Jackson ibanez and schecter r about the same
That is a matter of opinion. i like ibanez guitars better than clayton because they are more efficient for playing any style of music.
Ibanez is a Japanese guitar brand that has been around since 1957. They were one of the first Japanese companies to be successful at importing guitars, and were one of the first to mass-produce seven and eight string guitars.
I'd go with the Ibanez. Go to a music store, and you'll be able to test all types of guitars, and then you can chose which one you like the best. That question is for you, I can't answer it, but I can give you my perspective. Good luck!
Gibson but it really depends on personal preference.
The prices for Ibanez 12 string acoustic guitars range from $200-$500, although used guitars usually cost much less. If you want information on this exact model, the websites of instrument stores usually give you an idea of how much their products cost. Sam Ash (http://www.samashmusic.com/) provides a gigantic array of music instruments, including three "12 string acoustic guitars" from the brand Ibanez. (Sorry if this didn't help.)
Besides Fender, they own the Squier and Jackson brand names.
Ibanez has been selling electric guitars since the early 1960's. It is a Japanese brand of guitars selling guitars, basses, and electronics as well as accesories.
Fender Gibson Ibanez Epiphone Dean Guitars and ther are ALWAYS more
It's all opinion. personally, i prefer ibanez guitars. but that's just an opinion. =========== Ibanez has a much larger variety of instruments -- acoustics, archtop hollowbodies as well as superstrats. Jackson's market share has shrunk considerably and is more of an '80s brand (like Kramer or Charvel) with a limited number of active players. ESP is much more popular in that market.

you wont get a completely fabulous guitar for under $250, but i would recomend that you try ibanez guitars.
Gibson but it really depends on personal preference.

That is all a matter of personal opinion. Although when it comes to Ibanez I have found the RG series to be a very popular one. This is the most diverse series of any guitar of any brand, and I have used 2 different ones, owning one of them myself. I personally think they are a great guitar, and recommend them to any metal/rock player.
Any brand of guitar can be plugged into any brand of amp.
