∙ 14y agoEgyptians have always been understood, some say they are black, some say they are White, some say they are Arab, some say they are Mediterranean. To answer the question NO, they are not. They do speak Arabic and the majority are Muslims, but that does not make them Arab by ethnicity. Egyptians cannot be in their own race because it is a small minority of people. So Egyptians are not black, not Arab ethnically speaking. Ethnically they are Mediterranean and North Africans-DNA tests...

According to the Taif Agreement that ended the Lebanese Civil War, Lebanon agreed to be an Arab country. This was a difficult concession for many Lebanese Christians to make as they saw a closer connection between themselves and Europeans than they did with other Muslim Arabs.

Most Copts would argue quite fervently that they are not Arabs and are, instead, the descendents of the Egyptians from the time of the Pharaohs. Some Copts even make the argument that most Muslim Egyptians are also descendants of Pharaonic Egyptians who had been converted by the small number of Arabian Arabs to Islam and the Arabized. If the Copts are (properly) not considered to be Arabs, but the Muslim Egyptians are, Egypt is 90% Arab. If the Copts are considered to be Arabs, Egypt is >99% Arab.
