There have been test with South African elephants to see if they were really afraid of mice. Mice have stopped elephants in their tracts when placed in front of the elephant. The animal showed signs of being cautious and upset but not proven to be fearful.

What kind of pets do south Africa have?

South Africa's 'national' animal is the Springbok, a type of long-horned antelope capable of great speed. This is to South Africa as the kangaroo is to Australia, and the nickname of the South African rugby team is the 'Springboks'. However, other animals associated with South Africa include the aardvaark (a pig-like animal that feeds on insects), and also animals that exist elsewhere on the African continent such as the lion, the tapir and the giraffe.

What is the collective term for young mice?

A group of mice are called a mischief or nest. A family is called a horde. The male is called a Buck and the female a Doe.A group of mice is commonly referred to as a family, and also as a horde, a mischief, or simply, and most frequently, a nest of mice.Other collective nouns describing mice include a colonyand a harvest. The former is self-explanatory; the latter from the fact mice and other rodents nest in the dry stubble of wheat and other cereal plants following the harvest.A group of baby mice is called a litter. Some might refer to mice, when they are regarded as a pest, as a plague, but this isn't a group (collective) noun as such, it simply illustrates the fact the creatures are a nuisance, as in a plague of cockroaches.

Why are elephants afrid of mice?

Elephants are not afraid of mice and most often would not even notice a mouse if it was near them. When elephants do notice mice, it is mostly because of a change in their territory, and that can startle the herd animal.

Why are elephants afraid of rats?

The urban legend about elephants being afraid of one of the smallest (mice) has been perpetuated in cartoons, as well as popular animated films such as Disney's 'Dumbo'. It's not clear where the idea came from, but many people have theorized that elephants might be afraid of mice because they fear that the tiny creatures will crawl inside their trunks, irritating them. Elephants in captivity have been exposed to mice because they are frequently found in and around the elephants' feed (hay). Many caretakers have observed mice crawling on the trunks and faces of (awake) elephants and observed that the elephants take absolutely no notice of the mice, much less express fear or in their presence. Based on observations of interactions between elephants and mice, and the apparent peaceful coexistence, it's unclear where the myth may have originated.

Pretty much every animal on this Earth. The elephant is the largest land mammal, so even lions are scared of them and run away because they do not want to become lion pulp. The only creature not scared of them is giraffes because they are taller than elephants and cannot get squished by them.

Are whales afraid of mice like elephants are?

I don't think they have to be afraid of mice as they never have confronted them, ever. Whales live in water while mice live on dry land, out of water. I don't think that whales are even aware of whether such a thing (mice) actually even exists. My answer would be no.
