Chocolate diamonds are also known as brown diamonds. They are formed naturally due to high pressure under the earth. The reasons they are referred to as chocolate diamonds is due to the reduced glimmer and are rated very low on the grading chart. Chocolate diamonds are definitely more affordable than white diamonds.

The 'gold standard' for diamonds are the four C's, Carat, Colour, Clarity, and Colour. So Yes.

The colour is given by impurity inclusions, or lattice defects. Brown is usually lattice defects; blue, nitrogen inclusions; yellow, boron inclusions.

This is true if the diamond is naturally brown, chocolate, champagne. However, many fancy diamonds nowadays are color treated (brown, blue, etc.). If a high quality (well cut, few inclusions) white diamond is used, the treated brown diamond technically remains the same quality. Be careful because many places will charge you high quality prices for "chocolate diamonds" which are actually very low quality stones that have been color treated.

No, they are not, They are full of unprocessed carbon that was not turned into Diamond properly, most diamonds have specs of "chocolate diamond" which most call impurities, and decrease the value according to how many impurities are present. As such a pure white diamond is worth much much more!
