Actually this answer is incorrect. I live near a wolf sanctuary and learned from people their that they are actually diurnal-they can be awake at day and night-mostly day. And also it wouldn't make sense for them to be nocturnal when their food like moose, elk, muskox, etc. are up during the day-not night.
