Honda has a good line of cars, of which the Civic is only one. The Fit car is also a very good model. The model purchased would depend on what the buyer was looking for and the price point. The features of the Civic and the Fit, as well as the other models, are comparable and one could not be said to be better than the other.
other than options and sub-models, they will be almost identical
The EX and Si models have under hood insulation and the other models do not.

According to Honda's website the standard Civic models did not start using a timing chain until 2006 with the exception of the SI models which were a different engine and have always had a timing chain. But PRIOR to 2006 all the other civic models had timing belts (which have to be replaced to be replaced periodically).
Unfortunately, the Honda Civic SI only comes with a gas-powered engine and is promoted as a sporty car. It does not offer a hybrid option, as do some of Honda's other models.

The Civic in 1998, as well as all other years it is available from is/was produced by the Honda Motor Corporation. It was first introduced in 1972 and continues to be one of Honda Motors flagship models.
The 2007 civic has a timing CHAIN. Honda SIs had timing CHAINS from the very first model (2002) and the other standard Civic models had timing chains starting in 2006. So no need to replace it.

In January 2013, almost 22,000 new Honda Civics were sold. This placed is number 7 in total sales. The Camry, Accord, Corolla and Fusion all sold more cars than the Civic.
The 2006 Honda Civic uses an in line 4 cylinder aluminum alloy engine and all models other than the Si offer 140 Horsepower. The Si model boasts 197 Hp. For complete specifications, the Honda website offers complete specifications for all of its vehicles.
The 2002 Honda Civic came in multiple trim models. The DX Sedan for example came with factory P185/70/14 radials. The DX can be fitted with 15 through 19-inch wheel and tire combinations.
