Many people worry about salmonella due to the fact that the egg is raw. But, dogs have great immune systems, and their body doesn't react the same way a human's body does when it is introduced to salmonella - due to a dog's fast digestive system, any harmful bacteria is excreted in the dog's waste. If you are extremely concerned, you can always cook the egg by frying it, blanching it, or boiling it.

Dog owners who do feed their dog raw eggs point out that it's important that the dog is given no more than one raw egg a week. Too many raw eggs can upset a dog's stomach, as well as affect the dog's white blood cell count. Too many raw eggs can also cause your dog other ailments as the yolk is extremely fatty and contains a lot of cholesterol. This can be a problem, so be sure not to feed more than one raw egg a week.

Yes, it is completley safe for a dog to eat a fried egg, for all I know. It might vary depending on the breed, but my dog, a shitzu-poodle mix, eats fried eggs often and enjoys it. Just be sure that the eggs are fully cooked before feeding them. I would have to say yes.

Eggs are good for a dogs coat, muscles, because they contain protein. When a dogs coat becomes dull and the dog has a lot of skin dander,it helps too give the dog two eggs a day. You would see a improvement in about a week. Eggs are a way to ensure their pets receive the highest-quality protein naturally available. Whether as part of the human diet or pet diet, protein from eggs helps build muscle strength, among other benefits.

No. Chicken is not bad for your dog. Dogs love chicken and it is in the ingredients of many major dog foods both canned and dry.

Cooked chicken bones get dry and brittle so tend to splinter. They can get stuck in a dogs throat or digestive system. Raw chicken bones do not splinter the same way. Canines have naturally subsisted on raw meat and bones for thousands of years. Their digestive systems were perfectly adapted to render all of their nutrition from these natural foods. If you want to give your dog a treat of cooked chicken just give it the gristle, skin and meat, throw the bones away where the dog cannot get them. It is amazing how many pet owners PANIC when their dog eats a few chicken bones, spend hundreds of dollars at emergency vet clinics and hours of worry when the dog just did what is natural and is no worse for wear.

Keep in mind that everything you feed your dog has the potential to become hazardous under the right conditions. Kibble can be choked on, rawhide bones can cause intestinal blockages, and some chemicals used as preservatives in commercial pet foods are known cancer-causing agents. As an owner, all you can do is assess the risks and choose the feeding methods and treats you believe will be most beneficial for your dog in the long run.

Raw eggs should never be given to animals because of the risk of salmonella poisoning (same reason people shouldn't eat raw eggs). Giving puppies cooked eggs occasionally shouldn't hurt them, but be sure the eggs are cool enough not to burn the puppies' mouths. Best way to ensure a puppy's health is to follow your Veterinarian's recommendations on feeding.

Dogs can eat raw egg, yes.
In the wild they would snatch an egg and carry it away to be eaten.

Raw egg is somewhat poisonous to humans because of salmonella. However dogs have never learnt how to build a fire, therefore they have not lost their evolutionary trait that allows them to eat raw food like humans have. Dogs can eat a lot of things raw which would normally cause upset or death in humans, such as meat.

Eggs are a great source of several vitamins and amino acid. However they should not be fed too often to dogs as egg-white is an enzyme inhibitor which can cause digestive upset. You should also make sure the eggs are washed and not out of date.

The shells are touch and go. Dogs can eat the shells, but the shell could cause uncommon complications in smaller breeds. Cooked scrambled egg would probably be preferred by your dog.

Most dogs don't like egg whites (though some do), and giving your dog an occasional cooked egg yolk (no salt and pepper) will not hurt him.

so is more then 1 a week not good?

Should dogs eat eggs?

Contrary to what most people think, raw eggs and egg whites are not good for dogs. They can cause a severe allergic reaction in some breeds. In fact there are several foods that dogs should not eat other than just chocolate. I urge dog owners to do their research before giving their dog a "people-food" treat. Some of these foods are; potatoes, tomatoes, chocolate, rhubarb, raw eggs/whites, raw fish etc. Dogs do not eat eggs in the wild, and your dog could get hives, swollen face, mouth, throat/glands, respiratory distress and more from ingesting them.
