Generally, no, foxes are not a threat. They tend to keep away from humans and other animals, but generally foxes that live in urban areas will sometimes get into gardens or people's garbage. That's probably the biggest threat they pose.

Unfortunately, there are a few endangered species of the fox, including the Island Fox and Darwin's Fox. Both are in quite a bad way, and they aren't getting much attention, really. I would suggest reading up about them on Wikipedia. Hope this helps xxx

The only species of fox that is listed as endangered is Darwin's fox found on islands off the coast of Chile in South America. The Island Fox, found on islands off the California coast, is listed as "near threatened" but is not endangered at this time. At one time it was listed as endangered when a canine distemper outbreak in 1998 killed off about 90% of the animals. A vaccination program was initiated and the fox has recovered and no longer endangered.

Usually they avoid people but the fact is they are a wild animal and have the ability to deliver a very severe and painful bite if cornered.
