Answer AMuslims believe that they are not the same.
  • God is the Creator, the one and only one God with no partner, no son, no companion, no associate, and no resemblance.
  • Jesus is God prophet to call people to worship God, the one and only one God. Jesus is one of the greatest five God prophets; Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace be upon them all).
Answer BChristians believe that Jesus was their god incarnated, sent to earth on a mission of salvation and extreme sacrifice. The doctrine of the Trinity is a major tenet of some Christian faiths; it basically states that both Jesus and God, along with the Holy Spirit, are the same thing, yet somehow unique.

Many other Christian sects, as well as religions which do not hold the Trinity as a correct doctrine of faith, see Jesus as only a prophet sent by God, or that god's representative on earth. Other religions and faiths see Jesus as just one of many people who had the right idea, but were a bit ahead of the times, or as a mere mythological figure.

According to The Bible, Jesus and God are the same person. Jesus claims over and over again to be "I AM", which is how God referred to himself. In the beginning of John, Jesus is referred to as the WORD. "In the beginning was the WORD(Jesus), and the WORD was with God, and the WORD(Jesus) was God."

Jesus is God...the second person in the Holy Trinity; God in the flesh. God was born into the world through Mary as Jesus.

In short, yes. you see it states clearly in the Bible that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are all the same being. They are what is called the Trinity. Jesus is God's son, and the Holy spirit is what God sent to earth to be with us. So in answer to your question is yes Jesus and God are the same entity.

The other Abrahamic religions, Judaism and Islam, teach that Jesus is a prophet like Mohammad, Noah, Moses, and others, but not God in the flesh. These religions generally do not believe in the Trinity, so Christianity is unique in this belief.

Another view:

Some believe that Jesus and God are not the same being. Their reasoning is:

John 8:16-18 says "...if I judge, My judgment is True: for I AM NOT ALONE, but I and the Father THAT SENT ME. It is also written in your law, that the testimony of TWO MEN is True. I am one that beareth witness of MYSELF, and the Father THAT SENT ME beareth witness of ME."

Jesus tells us that the Father "sent Him." So... did His Father send Him, as He says? Or did He send Himself?

If the testimony of TWO MEN is True... and Jesus and His Father aren't two, as He says, but are really ONE person -- then, according to man's understanding His testimony is a LIE!!!

Is He absent-minded? Is He confused... or insane? Is it deceived man who is confused or is the Trinity idea something that man cannot grasp because it is beyond his reasoning abilities?

In my opinion, the "trinity doctrine" is a satanic theory of confusion, guaranteed to keep man in the dark as to the True nature of the "God Family" and the "Children" God is pro-creating in His image. It is demonstrated to us through the family structure God created, that has carried on since God first said, "Be fruitful and multiply."

Did Jesus "send Himself"... as the testimony of men tells us... or did His Father [His 'second witness' to the Truth] send Him, as He testifies? Or again is the thought of them being separate, but the same a concept that men cannot understand?

"...I do nothing of Myself, but as My Father hath taught Me, I speak these things. And HE THAT SENT ME is with Me: the Father hath not left Me alone; for I do always those things that please Him." (John 8:28-29)

Is Jesus right? Can we believe Him? Is He acting on behalf of His Father... or is He acting on His own? Did His Father teach Him... or did He teach Himself? Did His Father send Him... or did He send Himself? Does He always do things to please His Father... or is He out to please Himself? Is the concept of the Trinity beyond the scope of man's understanding?

Another comment:

I believe that Jesus is God because He said that He was, and for a man to say such a thing in those days under those circumstances, he would HAVE to be totally crazy...or telling the truth. It was very clear to me by the way he spoke and the things that He said, that he was not crazy.

No, Jesus is the son of a God. Jesus can is human, God is not.

Answer:Most Christian denominations and the Holy Bible say they are one and the same. The Bible from Genesis to Revelation reveals that God is one in nature or essence (Deut. 6:4; Isaiah 43:10; Eph. 4:6), it also reveals that this one God eternally exists in three distinct persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 8:6; Hebrews 1:8; Acts 5:3-4). Many Bible texts can be used to demonstrate that Jesus is God. The first is John 1: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Here Jesus not only is in existence before the world began but is differentiated from the Father and explicitly called God, indicating that He shares the same nature as His Father. Colossians 1:16 informs us that "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or powers; all things were created by him, and for him." Only deity has the prerogative of creation, preexists all things, and personifies the full essence and nature of God. Hebrews 1 overtly tells us that according to God the Father Himself, Jesus is God: "But unto the Son he saith, thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom." Not only is the entirety of Hebrews 1 devoted to demonstrating the absolute deity of Jesus, but in verse 10-12 the inspired writer quotes a passage in Psalm 102 referring to Yahweh and directly applies it to Jesus Christ. In doing so, the Scripture specifically declares Jesus ontologically equal with Israel's God. Many similar texts could be adduced. For example, in Revelation 1:8 the Lord God says "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." One last thought; In 2 Peter 1:1 Jesus is referred to as "our God and Savior Jesus Christ."

No, because in Psalm 83:18 it says:

"That people may know that you whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the most high over all the earth"

The Bible says that: He sent His one and only Son to save us from our sins (John 3:16)

So He couldn't be the Father and the Son at the same time and the Holy Spirit is the power to do things.

So, He is not all of them at the same time.

No, because in Psalm 83:18 it says: "That people may know that you whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the most high over all the earth" The Bible says that: He sent His one and only Son to save us from our sins (John 3:16)

So He couldn't be the Father and the Son at the same time and the Holy Spirit is the power to do things.

So, He is not all of them at the same time.

Another answer:

God is made up of three distinct persons: God the Father, God The Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We see that played out in the first book of the Bible, and we read in Genesis chapter 1 verse 26:

"And God said, Let US make man in OUR image, after our likeness."

We also read gospel of John chapter 1 and verses 1 through 3:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made."

Jehovah is God Father, Jesus is God the Son, and the Holy Spirit is God the Holy Spirit.

Three separate persons but each one is God.

Jesus Himself said as recorded in John chapter 10 verse 30: "I and the Father are one."

Later in the same chapter, verses 33 through 38, we read the dialog between the Jesus and His Jewish opponents:

"We are not stoning you for any good work," they replied, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."

Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are "gods" ? If he called them 'gods,' to whom the word of God came-and Scripture cannot be set aside- what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, 'I am God's Son'? Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father."

(I'll be responding with doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since the question is under "Mormonism." Others from other faiths are welcome to share their perspectives.)

Answer (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints)For Mormons, it depends on who you are referring to when you say "God." If you mean Heavenly Father, then no, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints teaches that the Father and the Son are separate and distinct beings. Scriptural examples that verify this include Acts 7:55-56, in which Stephen sees Christ on the right hand of God the Father, and Joseph Smith-History 1:15-20, in which Joseph Smith sees the same. When Christ and others refer to him as being "one with the father," it is believed that this means one in purpose but not one in substance. However, it is worth further clarifying the word "God." The Church believes that the God of the Old Testament, who spoke to the people of Israel and interacted with prophets such as Moses, is, in fact, Jesus Christ. This also pertains to the God who gives revelations in the Doctrine and Covenants. Therefore, the answer is that it depends on the usage of the name "God." In any case, when we are unsure of whom the scriptures are referring to, we can take comfort in the fact that when one speaks He speaks for the other, so the words presented are according to the intent of both the Father and the Son. Answer (Other Christian Denomination)From a Christian and biblical perspective there is no doubt that Jesus who was and is a man is also God. Among many clear statements He made to this effect was "I and the Father are one" and also "..before Abraham was I am.." using the same name for God almighty which was used at the burning bush when God spoke to Moses and called Himself "I am".

By way of clarification God is not a man like unto ourselves except in terms of the person of Jesus Christ who lowered Himself and became man so He could die for all mankind. This touches on the mystery of the trinity revealed in scripture, that God is three persons yet one God.

Jesus is God incarnate, God in the flesh. He is the second person of the Holy Trinity. God the Father being the first person and the Holy Spirit being the third person. One God in three persons.

I love this Queston. Yes. It is described as the Trinity (Holy Trinity) and that means the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 3 in 1 and 1 in 3. If you are Mormon, they are 3 separate gods but they aren't Christian. Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in the trinity. They believe that God and Jesus are different. But Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christian. Yes Jesus and God are One God.

Yes. It's a little complicated, there is only ONE God, but there are THREE PERSONS who are all that one GOD. Thus Jesus is God, Jesus is not the Father, and Jesus is not the Holy Spirit, but they are both the same God as well as Jesus. Trying to understand the Trinity is, to put it bluntly, impossible for us human beings, we just have to accept it on faith. But Jesus and God are both one, but God, strictly speaking isn't a person, so from that point of view, you would have to say, "No". Depends on how you look at it.
