Hi
My family has a 5 year old border collie, and we have 2 cats and another dog.
He is an amazing dog with a great and fun personality. We got him when our kids were young and he did great from the beginning.
Make sure you have plenty of room for him to run around because all collies need to run and have space.

∙ 13y agothey can be fine as long as they have been taught to behave nicely with children. if it is a puppy they may bite but you need to teach them not to.
i have a border collie at home 9well its cross border collie and cross golden retriever!) and i am 10 and my brother is 9. he is great with children that age and much older children too.
If you are wondering about younger ones than they are great with them because they might bark and jump around the small child but it will only do that because it is excited and wants someone to stroke it so buy one if you can i recommend them

∙ 14y agoBorder collies are very good with young children, particularly if they are raised along with them. They become very protective of those they live with, and they can be incredibly loyal.

I have 3 border collies they are used because they are built for it!!!! When there born they know about sheep no one teaches them its just there but you do need to train them to sit etc! they are amaizing animals and good natured

No not all border collies are hyper. it depends how you raise them. if they get no exersize and get over fed your border collie will be lazy. if you take your collie for walks about 4-7 times a week and keep him on a good diet your border collie will be fit and hyper, but they wont be over hyper even fit border collies can be lazy sometimes.
