This question may have several answers because it is a debatable topic.
I think it is hamsters because only 2 people out of 20 in my class have guinea pigs, but 10 out of 20 have hamsters!
Guinea pigs and hamsters both make great pets, but the hamster is more popular. This doesn't mean it is a better pet, its just more commonly sold, owned and bred. -Joanna K.
Syrian hamsters are the most common pet wise as they have a friendlier nature, the only problem is you can't house any together as they're very territorial, you have to house them separately as they do attack each other. You can house dwarf hamsters as they group in the wild anyway. Syrian hamsters are friendlier and more child friendly if handled well and kept well :)
The Syrian hamster is one of the most, or the most, popular hamster because it has a quite easy temperament and fairly easy to hand-tame. The Syrian hamster, also sometimes known as "teddy bear hamsters", are also quite cute and cuddly (depending on what state of health it's in, that is.)
Remember, though, even if Syrian hamsters are the most hand-tameable hamsters, that doesn't mean they won't nip! So be careful when handling even Syrian hamsters.
Syrian hamsters come in long-hair and short-hair versions, also. (I know that wasn't relevant but I had to add that in.)
I say hamsters are more common but I like gerbils more. They have a fun personality.
yes hamsters are fuzzy little pets everyone will love and the will love you too :)

the most common gerbil is the genia pig
you could. but a hamster ball is dangerous for a hamster so it most likely be dangerous for a gerbil as well.
A Gerbil is more Rat Looking with a long tail, while the hamster has a short nub. Gerbils are also easier to handle for the most part. They are all 3 rodents.
The most common hamster is a Syrian hamster, but there are other less popular breeds such as Russian dwarfs and Chinese
The most common herbivore is a hamster and a snake eats a hamster.
Probably the dog, cat , fish and hamster as these are most easy and common to look after
it is very BAD because they will fight most of the time till one dies and they wont breed
bob or fred is the most common boy hamster name
Your Hamster is most likely to be a syrian hamster as those are the most common colours for a female one.
Gerbils should never be put together with Hampsters. They are from different environments and eat different foods. Dispite the fact that most foods are for 'both hampsters and gerbils' that is wrong. They have different nutritional requirements. Hampsters are VERY territorial and will end up with one of them dead or severely injured. Do not put a gerbil and a hampster in the same cage! No matter how docile the hampster and gerbil look. yup! they can get to be pretty good buddies too.The gerbil will love it and try to be friends, but the hamster will defend territory. The gerbil will most likely fight back and with the gerbil's long claws and teeth that never stop growing, I think the hamster will die. You guys all are stupid, Yes, Gerbils and Hamsters can live together if they're docile and nice to each other...I have a gerbil and a Russian dwarf hamster and they have NEVER once fought, and yes u can put them together...No! No, no, no! Anyone who has been able to do this has had extremely good luck -- and that's all it is. If it is a Syrian hamster, the gerbil will die. If a dwarf, the hamster will die.
The most popular hamster is the Dwarf Hamster, in second place is the teddy bear hamster and in third, the black bear hamster!
