It depends how high you're talking about. If you mean revving all the way to the red line then yes this is bad for the engine. But the rpm shouldn't exceed 4000 rpm. If it is slightly below this then it is fine.

Can cruise control be used when going uphill?

Yes it can. It will add throttle to match what speed it was set too.

How to make a truck drive further with less gasoline?

They say that over 100Km / hour your car will consume 20% more gasoline than usual. Also, try to not use your cruise control in uphill road because no matter how hard it is for the engine, the gas flow will be extreme !

Gravity your kinetic energy when you are driving uphill and it when you are driving downhill?

it is both kinetic and potential energy

What causes engine to lose power going uphill?

Gravity.

Why your car jerks when going uphill?

Engine is in need of tuning.

Why does a car a Blow smoke when accelerating uphill and b after driving downhill blow smoke when accelerating back uphill?

What causes excessive engine rev?

Driving in low gears. Pushing hard on the accelerator ("flooring it"). Going uphill. Driving with excessive weight (like a trailer). Either shift up or lay off the gas to bring your engine speed down. This is a classic symptom of a "worn clutch" in a manual transmission vehicles. The friction disc cannot transfer power under load so it slips under load causing excessive engine reving. Excessive engine RPM at idle can be caused by a vacuum leak or by a stuck Idle Air Control (IAC) valve.

Why does your car engine cut out when going uphill?

Time for a tune up.

What is the best way to carry a load when driving on a ramp?

With a forklift, carry the load on the uphill side.

Will using Air conditioner in your car kill gas mileage?

yes RPM is kept constant by the idle regulator for the engine, cruise control, or by your foot on the pedal. So when the AC compressor kicks on, the extra drag that it causes automatically gets compensated by a slight increase in fuel to the engine. It's like the difference between driving up a hill, and coasting down a hill. Your engine might have the same rpm in both directions, but your foot would be pushing the accelerator down further (more gas) when you're driving uphill. Sometimes you can 'feel' the drag on the engine when the compressor turns on. It's less noticeable, and has relatively less effect on mpg, in cars with bigger engines. Also, the comparisons I've seen only tested the difference at highway speeds, where the inertia of the higher rpm probably helps minimize the drag. I suspect that the extra fuel consumption is even greater with stop 'n go city driving.

What gear do I use when driving uphill with an automatic transmission?

You're driving an automatic, the car should select the correct gear for you. However some automatics allow the driver to select low gears for use in slow moving traffic for example. If you feel you need more power when driving uphill then select one of the lower gears.

What causes a vehicle to not accelerate as quickly in the mountains?
