Many parents dread the tax season. They find out how much they owe in taxes and can become quite upset at the amount. Owing money in taxes is quite the drag. One way to eliminate high tax expenses is for parents to pay for the tuition of their children. If parents foot the bill for tuition expenses, then they are able to qualify for a $4,000 deduction on their taxes. This can be a great incentive for parents to pay for the education of their children. However, parents are unable to claim more than $4,000 in tax deductions for paying tuition expenses.
As much / as little as they are willing and able to afford.
No, neither parent is required to help their child pay college tuition.
Kids should be in brand names when they can afford to pay for them. Unless they can understand that for special occasion only they might get it from the parents if the parents can afford it....Bridget....
You really can't.. unless you can afford to pay for it monthly.

Yes, Michelle Obama attended Princeton on a scholarship and also her brother attended Princeton on a scholarship, because their parents couldn't afford to pay for college. She attended Princeton on a scholarship because of her excellent academic record, not because her parents couldn't afford to pay for college. Mr. and Mrs. Robinson could not afford to send their children to Princeton, but no worries, because Michelle and her brother were both extremely smart. If Michelle and her brother attended Princeton on a scholarship because their parents couldn't afford to pay, then everybody whose parents can't afford to pay would get to go to ivy league schools. No, she got a scholarship to Princeton, because she was academically talented enough to get one, unlike most of us. For the rest of us, when your parents can't afford to send you to college, you get financial aid, and not a scholarship to Princeton!
If you live in another jurisdiction other than the one you attend school in, you are required to pay the school sstem for your tuition. Reason being - you do not live in a jursdiction over which the city school system has taxing authority. Therefore if you attend an out-of-jurisdiction school you must pay for the privilege of attending and using it.
