Actually, Ragdolls usually are colourpoint - which means dark "points" with the rest of the body a very pale colour. These "points" cover the face mask, ears, paws and tail. These can come in a variety of colours: Blue (slate grey), Seal (dark brown), Lilac (pinkish grey), Chocolate (light brown), Red, and Cream.
Mitted and Bicolours have the same colour and patterns as the colourpoints, but these have added white in specific areas (mitted usually have white front paws or toes, belly stripe/full white belly, blaze on the face, white back legs up to the ankle. Bicolour has full white legs, white face/muzzle with pink nose, white belly, sometimes white patches on the side/back).
To answer the question - no, a ragdoll cannot be black.
