I have a 2001 Mitsubishi galant that has 146,000 and still going strong Answer mitsubishis suck, but as any thing it lasts as long as you take care of it.gm Jim My 2000 Galant has 172xxx miles and still runs like new. The average miles for a Galant is about 250xxx.
Are you sure it's a serpentine? From the manual, a 1999 V-6 Galant should have 2 drive belts. 1 should control both the power steering and water pumps and the other is for the alternator and A/C compressor.
The oil pump on a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant ES, is located behind the crankshaft an timing pulleys. You'll have to dismount the oil pan, all the timing belt system and all the pulleys nearby to get to it.
on top of the headlights, there are 2 plastic slide pins. pull up on these pins and the headlight housing will come out so you can change the bulbs. when putting back on, push in on headlight housing and put the pins back down, to hold it in place.
I do not know for sure, but i have a 1999 galant and we had to fix the transmission neutral switch on it. it was about $65 dollars and the car runs great now. I guess it is a common problem with these cars. hope this helps.
