yes i do... because they put in as much work as men do, and they don't get paid... think about it, a man goes to work, say he is a landscape artist, and he gets 50% of what he wanted to get done. With women it is different, they wash dishes vacuum the floor, dust, do the laundry, wash the counter, sweep the floor, and if you have children, it makes more than you and your husbands work... it puts 3x more work, and it isn't easy being stuck home all do doing the same thing over and over... for men they go to work and get something new everyday.... so yes i do think that women should get paid!

I would like to present a different opinion. People do housework for their own purposes, not as a service to society. If I prepare my own lunch and eat it, it is because I am hungry, not because society needs me to do that. If I wash my dishes afterwards, it's because I will need to use those dishes again, not because it is a social obligation to do so. If I sweep my floor it's because I want to live in a clean apartment, not because the government has ordered me to do it. Furthermore, if housewives are paid by the government, who supervises their work? You might think that their husbands do, but husbands have a vested interest in the extra money that their wives would be paid for doing housework, and therefore they would report much more work than was actually being done. Independent supervisors would be needed for every household. The sheer level of surveillance that would be needed for such a system is impossible. Alternatively, we could just give a fixed housekeeping allowance to everybody. Free money is nice, but in the end the US could not afford it and it would just be inflationary.
