Are there any Scientific studies that confirms if Prayers work or do not work Please provide link?

A lot of scientists have studied this issue. A recent published study was discussed in the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/31/health/31pray.html)

The study indicates that prayer seems to have a negative effect on recovery rates if the patients know someone is praying for them and no effect if the praying is done in secret by strangers.

Prayer believers in the article say that even though the facts don't support them, they think prayer works. This may be the result of biased observations where they remember the times it "worked" more easily than the times is didn't as this confirms their world view.
