As far as I know there are no effective home remedies for ear mites. Ear mites can be a huge problem, take a while to cure and the mites can migrate to other areas of the cat, such as the face, and even under the nail beds. You need to give effective medical treatment and ensure that any other cats in the home also are checked long term for mites as well.
Both of my cats have ear mites pretty bad. I took one to the vet and she gave me flea medication for both of them. Theirs ears cleared up in less than a week. She also said that ear mites are much easier to get rid of than fleas so she gave me two flea treatments and said they should be gone shortly.

If you think your rabbit has mites or any kind of parasite, you must bring it to a vet for a full examination, and the vet will sell you the right drugs. The usual treatment for most mites that affect rabbits is selamectin (brand names Revolution, Stronghold). Do not use any products made for cats/dogs unless a vet with experience and knowledge in treating rabbits recommends it -- many things that are safe for cats/dogs are toxic for rabbits. Home remedies (mineral oil, etc.) are not effective and often lead to further complications. Rabbits with parasite infestations will not recover on their own. See the retailed questions/links below for more information.

Unfortunately there is no genuinely simple way to get mites off of a tortoise. It is important to change the environment they live in as well as your pet. Spray the tortoise's home with toxic pesticides to help kill off any living conditions the mites might be partaking in. Give your pet tortoise a bath to help remove any living mites on them and make sure to bathe them with gloves on and in an area where the mites will not infect.
