No legitimate job sells itself. They list a specific position and seek resumes. Even telecommuting positions use formal hiring practices. Any system based on providing you leads or selling you products to work or assemble is a scam. If any part of a free work opportunity involves spending money, it is a scam. Unfortunately, most work from home opportunities advertised as “free” involve paying up front for materials and or training and the potential earnings are lower than the initial expense.
One of the easiest ways to identify work at home scams is to see if there is a cost involved. If you need to spend money in order to "make money", it is probably a scam.

No this is not necessarily true. While there are quite a few out there that are a "scam", the are also completely legitimate work at home opportunities. Some of these include taking surveys, and doing mystery shopping.
