Some foods do such as 'Mitai' which are extravagant Asian sweets which come in many different flavours, colours and textures. These are mainly saved for very special occasions such as weddings; parties; top grades etc. They are to celebrate joyous occasions. Another food is 'Dates' which are mainly eaten in the month of Ramadan to open the fast with.
Occasions like weddings will often have choices of beef or ham or turkey. Turkey and ham would be particularly common at Christmas. For some special occasions people in Ireland might go for fish like salmon.
