Every state has laws and rules regarding the carrying of firearms. Check the laws for your state for any specific limitations.
WalMart quit carrying any type of handgun some time ago. Only certain WalMarts still sell any firearms.

18 for a long gun, 21 for a handgun and NFA items (which, Connecticut isn't likely to approve of any NFA tax stamps anyhow, so that's sort of a moot point). That's the federal law, and doesn't apply just to the state of Connecticut.
Oregon is an traditional open carry state. Both State and Federal laws do place limts on where you can carry any firearm, in any manner.
It depends. A handgun that is made of all steel will not melt, but any handgun that has polymer or any plastic in it, the parts that are polymer will probably melt.
If you have a handgun carry permit, definitely. The handgun carry permit covers "any handgun that you legally own or posses."

If I'm not mistaken, brandishing a handgun is a crime any time.
Not at 18. It's classed as a handgun, which you must be 21 to purchase. As far as carrying it, it's a very iffy proposition. For concealed carry, states issue a concealed handgun permit - not a concealed weapons permit. Such permits do not apply to knives or other types of weapons. Likewise, open carry laws in states which permit open carry do not apply to any other type of weapon other than a handgun.
In general, any felony makes you inelligible to own a handgun.
According to federal law, you can only purchase a handgun in the state where you reside. You can, however, pay for a handgun in any state, and have that dealer or individual ship the handgun to a dealer in your state, and then go to that dealer to pick it up.
