That's more of a trick question. What happened was millions of years ago the was an ice age and that created a land - bridges most of the horses moved across to Europe in hope of it being hotter. A long time later when the first ships arrived people imported horses every were so there is horses in America. no one really know how many horses are in America because they are schooling horses and wild. Its a good thing no one really knows because it makes it all quite an interesting topic.
