A wisdom tooth, in humans, is any of the usual four third molars. Wisdom teeth usually appear between the ages of 17 and 25.Most adults have four wisdom teeth, but it is possible to have fewer (hypodontia), or more, in which case they are called supernumerary teeth. Wisdom teeth commonly affect other teeth as they develop, becoming impacted or "coming in sideways." They are often extracted when this occurs and YES it does pain.

I had them out over three weeks ago and my stitches on one side just came out, the other ones are still in. The ones that came out today didn't hurt at first, but now I have pain where they came out. I didn't have any before they came out. Any ideas why or what I should do?

Stitches are sometimes used when a larger incision is made, or when materials are added into the surgical area for assorted reasons (usually in an attempt to build up or preserve the bone).

The ache from having the tooth removed will be such that you won't even notice the stitches. Ice packs will help the swelling. After a couple days you will pretty much return to normal.

It depends on the type of stitches they used, but more often times than not, they dissolve.

Home remedy pull wisdom tooth?

Not to. Do not attempt to pull your own wisdom teeth. It is dangerous and can be extremely painful. Unless you are a dentist, you do not have the proper means or knowledge of pulling and caring for the removal of a wisdom tooth.

The stiches should dissolve over the next couple of days on their own - they are not removed.

What do you do if the stitches for your wisdom tooth break?

When your tooth breaks nothing major happens. Go to the dentist and have it looked at. If its a big chip then the dentist will fill it in with a clear liquid that soon hardens and blends in with your tooth.. If the chip is small then nothing will happen unless it's visible.

If you have what feels like a tooth under your gums behind your last molar is it a wisdom tooth?

IF you really want to know what is under your gums, easiest way is to get an xray. However if it is not painful and bothersome leave it aloneeven if it is a wisdom tooth. Remember that wisdom tooth may erupt perfectly normally even without you yourself knowing it. So , if it ain't troubling you, do not trouble it or trouble with it.!

Can you have a wisdom tooth removed without having stitches?

I have had all my wisdom teeth removed and have never had stitches (Sweden). They were all removed in the same way by different dentists. Local anaesthetic followed by brute force pulling (sounds alot worse than it is). The "opening" left behind heals itself fairly easy. Just had a compressor against it for a few hours for some residual bleeding. Pulling a tooth is not much worse than any other treatment, however the healthier and the more visible the wisdom tooth is, the easier the pull will be.

Is slight bleeding after wisdom tooth extraction common and safe?

After a wisdom tooth extraction, slight bleeding is very common. However if it continues after a long period of time (10 minutes-1 hour) see your dentist or a healthcare professional because you may require dissolvable stitches. Good Luck!
