Are you having a miscarriage if at 12 weeks pregnant having brown spotting and sharp pains at various times?

I am almost 12 weeks and I have been bleeding brown blood for weeks now but mine is due to a vanishing twin. My doctor said that brown blood is old blood so it is not really harmful but if you bleed bright red blood that may be a cause for concern. Every pregnancy is different and I have heard so many stories of women that have horrible cramps during pregnancy and are fine. I would talk to your doctor and get an ultrasound for reassurance. Usually when you tell your OB what problems you are having they will see you more often. Good luck to you and your baby!
