Morzan was a dragon rider which granted long life. Apparently, his father on son, ( whichever is which), was granted the same. Morzan was killed around 20 years ago in the race to get Saphira's egg. Not 100 years ago. Murtagh was around 3/4 then and Eragon had just been born...

Is Eragon the son of Morzan?

Eragon is Brom's son. Eragon and Murtagh are brothers through their mother Selena. Morzan is Murtagh's father, but Brom is Eragons so that makes Murtagh Eragon's half brother. It was revealed in the third book Brisingr that Eragon's real father is Brom, not Morzan as it was told in the second book Eldest.

Are Eragon and Murtagh really brothers or was Murtagh lying?

Murtagh believed he was telling the truth. Eragon and Murtagh really are half-brothers and share the same mother. The part Murtagh was incorrect about was who Eragon's father was. Murtagh's father was Morzan, whereas Brom was the father of Eragon. Eragon was not even aware of this himself until after Brom's death.

In Eragon what is zarroc?

A red sword. It belonged to Morzan, Eragon's stepfather, and was won in a fight by Brom. Both Brom and Morzan are Dragon Riders. In the ancient language, it means "misery".

What was the back story on Eragon's sword Zar'roc?

Zar'roc was a powerful red sword, once wielded by Morzan, a Dragon Rider who sided with Galbatorix. Eragon found the sword after defeating Durza in battle, and it became his weapon throughout the Inheritance Cycle series. The sword was known for its distinctive red blade and its connection to Eragon's past.

What is the definition of eldest?

I'm thinking two possible things: One, that Morzan was the eldest apprentice to Oromis, with Brom being the junior; or Two, that Murtagh is the elder between him and Eragon

Who is eragon's father?

Who is Eragon's mother?

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD FOT THOSE WHO HAVE NOT YET READ "ELDEST" AND/OR "BRISINGR"Selena, or the Black Hand. She originally fell in love with Morzan (the rider who betrayed the others) and would do anything for him to gain his love. He saw this as an advantage because not many others have such faithful and reliable servants, and used her as an assassin, where she used the title of the Black Hand. Eventually she gave birth to Murtagh with Morzan as his father. As Murtagh tells Eragon in the first book, Morzan threw his sword at him when he was just a small child. When Brom infiltrated Morzan's castle as a servant, he met and fell in love with Selena. They kept their relationship a secret, and as soon as Selena found out that she was pregnant with Brom's child, she left for her hometown of Carvahall to stay with her brother, Garrow. She did not want the pain that Murtagh went through at the mercy of Morzan's sword to also happen to Eragon. So he was left there, and (as you may or may not know,) he grew up and by some bizarre act of fate, magic, and circumstance, he was given a dragon; and with that, the responsibilities of a dragon rider. Now, I could go on and on about the ties between Eragon and Brom, Saphira and Thorn, and how Saphira's egg came to be in Eragon's possession, but that's not the point. At the end of the second book, Eldest Murtagh tells Eragon that they're brothers. Now, that's true; to some extent. Murtagh and Eragon are HALF-brothers. And in the third book of Brisingr, it is finally revealed that Brom is Eragon's father, and he is given a portrait-like thing of his mother.

Is Morzan really Eragon's dad?

Actually, No. If you haven't read Brisingr, Stop reading, as this is a big secret you don't learn until almost the end of the book. Eragon's father is (If you can, I suggest you look for small hints of this in the books, Because they are there) Brom. Yep, Brom. Apparently, Brom fell in love with Selena, even though she was married to Morzan. Not even Galbatorix or murtagh knew this. Only Brom and a few select people he told knew about him and Selena. Oh, and get this, Saphira knew, and she didn't tell Eragon! (Oaths stink.)

Were brom and morzan brothers?

No, Brom and Morzan were not brothers. Morzan was a Dragon Rider and a traitor who aligned himself with the evil king Galbatorix, while Brom was a good Dragon Rider and one of the protagonists in the "Inheritance Cycle" series by Christopher Paolini. They did have a complicated history and were closely connected through their roles as Dragon Riders.
