The Earth tilts on it's axis (relative to it's orbit around the sun) and that's why we have seasons, in winter the sun is low on the horizon in the northern hemisphere (we are tilted away from the sun) and about 32 deg. above the equator in summer, so it will be at the highest point all year on June 22.
The only distinctive property of the Sun's position in the sky during the summer is that it is higher above the horizon at any given time of day. This results in its rays being more concentrated and therefore effectively warmer, resulting in the characteristic high temperatures of summer. As a result of being higher above the horizon the days (daylight hours) are also longer, further increasing the heating effect. These distinctions are effectively lost in the tropics where the the sun is always high in the sky and the days about the same length.
The Earth orbits around the sun.
During the months of summer, the earth will be on the left {aka West}. During the Winter the earth will be on the right {aka East}, and fall in on the bottum {aka South}, and spring in on top {aka North}. :)
Your welcome.
Throughout the entire portion of the orbit that the earth occupies between December and March.
That part of the orbit includes the point where the earth is closest to the sun ... reached sometime
during the first few days of January.
Everywhere. The earth tilts toward the sun at different times during its rotation, and even the poles experience a mild form of summer.
When it is summer, the Earth is tilted toward the sun.
mars
tilted toward the sun?
the way earth has a tilted axis
the way earth has a tilted axis
depends on which hemisphere you live if on top it is towards the sun
If you're in the southern hemisphere, then it is Summer when the southern part of the earth is tilted towards the sun. If you're in the northern hemisphere, it is Winter at that time.
When summer in New Zealand, the Earth's southern regions are tilted towards the Sun, and the North Pole tilted away from it.
No. It is not "the Earth" that is tilted away or towards the Sun, it is the hemisphere in which you live. And if you have summer, that basically means that your hemisphere is tilted TOWARDS the Sun.
The earth is titled on its axis and in summer its tilted towards the sun and therefore summer.
At that temperature, it would be summer in Santiago, and the southern pole of the earth's axis would be tilted toward the sun.
It is summer because that part of the earth is tilted towards the sun and it gets more heat.
The Earth is tilted closer to the Sun.
summer happens whan the earth is tilted closer to the sun
when it's cold it would be tilted when its summer its Straight :)
Spring and Summer
tilted toward the sun?
Summer
Winter, spring, summer, autumn. The Earth is ALWAYS tilted, otherwise there would be no seasons. (see related question)
