How do babies grow from an egg to a baby?

When a sperm and an egg join together they form a zygote. This is what a baby originates as. A zygote is only one cell. A single cell grows/duplicates to multiple cells by the process of mitosis. Mitosis is when a 'parent' cell breaks off into two 'daughter' cells. The daughter cells carry the same genetic material as the parent cell. The daughter cells do the same thing until there are a ton of cells and a baby is formed.
