If it still just knocks MAKE NO FURTHER ATTEMPTS TO START THE BIKE, remove the starter and take it to an auto electric shop (cheaper than most bike shops) the parts in the starter may have broken apart.

The starter for my street bike cost 500.00 from the factory but only 180.00 aftermarket from the auto electric place. (the labor on a rebuild is around 105.00 an hour) The new one has a warranty.
Is starter working?
If a 94 Thunderbird starter will not turn over, the battery may be dead. The battery should be charged with jumper cables.
Test the battery with a digital voltmeter. You should get a reading of 12.6 V if the battery is fully charged. If the battery is fully charged then you know the alternator is functioning properly and your problem is more than likely a defective starter.
Starter solenoid? Battery not fully charged?
Check the battery and see if it is charged or needs to be changed. Check the battery cables Check the starter condition

Is the new battery well charged? Is the starter bendix stuck? Is the starter ring stuck?
Could be, (assuming the starter is not cranking the engine) a bad starter, dirty or loose battery connections, the engine is seized.
My 2000 GMC Jimmy is slow cranking. The battery voltage meter is showing charged so I am assuming that the starter is the problem. Where do I find the starter to remove it?
Starter motor going bad. The starter motor is the first electrical device inline from the battery.
