You can freeze mozzarella as long as it's in it's original packaging, or you wrap it up a plastic food wrap and remember to put it in a zipper-type storage bag, before thowing it in the freezer. :D
Cheese of any kind does not survive freezing intact. The ice crystals that form slice the cheese up into random small pieces that crumble apart when thawed. The cheese is still edible and can be used in cooking but the original texture is completely gone.
