Your house is 2400 square feet and has a 4 ton air conditioner Can you replace the outside unit with a 5 ton or does the codenser coils have to be replaced also?
Can you Replace 3.5 condenser with 4 ton condenser?
Can a 3.5 ton evaporator be used with a 4 ton condenser?
What ton unit should you have inside if you have a 4 ton ac outside?
Can you match a 3.5 ton air handler by Gibson 13 seer with a 4 ton 13 seer Rheem air handler?
You can't match an air handler to an air handler. I assume you meant a 3.5 Ton A/H to a 4 Ton condenser. The answer is no. If the A/H was 4 Ton & you had a 3.5 Ton condenser you could with an expansion valve setup. You should really match equipment when possible & I highly recommend using a qualified technician.

What size AC condencer will an American Standard coil model ccbc48a4acd0 handle?
What size condensor for 1800 square foot home?
A condenser is typically installed based on 400 square feet per (1) ton. That is, in a dwelling of 1800 square feet, a 4 & 1/2 ton unit, (for air conditioning), will be needed. Any less and the condenser will have to work too hard. Much more and the condenser will over work, (due to start-up and cool down energy overlapping, as well as the excess energy required to run the larger unit), thereby wasting money.
Can you mix sizes of indoor and outdoor air conditioner units like a 4 ton compressor and a 3 ton condenser?
Absolutely NOT ! you will end up with more problems, and spend more redoing it because it doesn't work together. And besides a 4 ton compressor needs a 4 ton condensor.3 ton condensor will not have the surface area to cool the freon from a hot vapor to a cool liquid, that is needed for optimal performance in air handler, which is also rated for a 4 ton ,due to the coil size and the expansion valve size.
Can you replace a 3 ton unit with a 4 ton unit?
Yes,though not reccomended. It will cool faster but will not remove as much moisture, due to less run time,(which air conditioners are just that, they condition air,by removing moisture and heat)thus producing cool dry air.4 ton might make house cold but clamy. That is, if your house is sized for a 3 ton.It might have been undersized. If it kept it cool in summer then go back with a 3 ton,if not, then 4 ton wont hurt. But you will need to replace both parts of system. The air handler and the condenser. There are also 3.5 ton units if you suspect your 3 ton unit was undersized for the application. Have a heat load calculation done for the home and get a correctly sized unit. You can replace only the cooling coil (evaporator) in the air handler and not the whole air handler as long as the fan in the unit will support whatever tonnage you wind up installing this time. Chances are a 3 ton AHU will work for a 3.5 or 4 ton unit. You`ll just have to change the speed setting on the fan. Your contractor knows this.

Will a 4 ton condenser unit work with a 3 ton furnace?
not very well. a 4 ton system needs about 1600 cfm to provide it's full capacity of cooling. a 3 ton furnace puts out about 1200 cfm. in addition, the evap coil typically attached to the furnace needs to match the tonnage of the outdoor unit. so, the evap coil must be 4 tons. If you currently have a 3 ton furnace and evap coil, the system will not work, and you will most likely ruin the compressor in the outdoor unit.
