_______
Please, DO NOT DROP OUT!
This request comes from someone who spent 25 years in Mississippi working with people who had dropped out of high school and, even with a GED, found themselves in a bad life situation. Drop-outs can find little or no work except minimum wage dead-end jobs. They doom themselves and their family (wife & children) to a miserable life of unemployment, poverty, public assistance, and very little hope for living "the American dream."
Almost all (85-90%)of the tens of thousands of drop-outs that I interviewed in GED classes, job training programs, public work projects, etcetera that my agency (Governor's Office of Job Development & Training) operated said that dropping out of high school was the single WORST DECISION that they ever made in their entire life. Many were interviewed while in job training programs at Parchman State Prison. I interviewed thousands of others who lived in substandard housing, who had no "ride" except for the bus system, who sweated through Mississippi's long, hot summers with no air conditioning, who lived from month to month on welfare, and the list goes on and on.
It's a rough and cruel world out there and you are putting yourself at a great disadvantage by not finishing high school. For your own sake, and the sake of your future family, hang in there. I don't mean to sound like I'm preaching a sermon, but I spent a quarter of a century trying to help folks who put themselves behind the eight-ball by not graduating from high school. You CAN graduate. Please DO. Don't drop out.
No. Some states allow students to "drop out" of school after the age 17, but parental consent is still needed.

Yep, though I wouldn't support it.
