NO IT CAN NOT BE REPLACED THERE IS INTERNAL ELECTONIC DIFFERENCES.
No. You will no longer be getting the correct voltage to the appliance. It should be replaced before using again.
Yes, provided that you have a ground wire in the box and that the ground wire is properly connected in the electric panel.
My question is WHY did you replace a four prong dryer plug with a three prong! 220 volt Electric dryers require two hot legs, a neutral and a system ground wire. Sounds as though you shunted one of the hots or the neutral. You need to install a four prong plug of the same configuration and wire it exactly as the original.
It is a the tail end of the transmission and should have a 2 prong connector.
On a British plug it is the earth pin connected to the earth wire. This is safety feature to stop electric shock
It depend on which prong breaks off. If is its the brass blade the unit will not work. If it is the silver blade the unit will not work. If it is the ground prong, the unit will work but it will not trip the breaker if a short circuit fault occurs. The heater frame could become energized and if you happen to touch a grounded source when touching the heater frame, a nasty shock could result.
A prong is a clamper to clamp things.

To adapt a three prong range cord?æto a four prong outlet you need to remove the screws from the back plate to open the electric access panel. Then, pull out the copper grounding strip attached to the middle terminal. Next, remove the green ground screw from under the terminal block and attach it to the four prong outlet.?æ
