Of course. It depends on the person's individual choice. Although members can and do marry outside the church, they are strongly discouraged from doing so because the authority for this marriage lasts only 'til death do us part'. The problem is Latter-day Saints (Mormons) believe that marriage is Forever, but that these Eternal marriages can only be performed in holy edifices called, 'Temples' by proper authodity from God. To be worthy to enter the temple, one needs to be temple worthy and temple ready, having been interviewed by their bishop and stake president for active Church membership and testimony.

Answer:

Yes, of course! Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) may marry whomever they would like. It happens very often in the Church that a member marries a non-member.

If a Church member would like to marry in the Temple, they must marry another Church member, as only Church members may enter the Temple.

However, if a Church member would like to marry someone else, they may choose to get married wherever they would like. If they choose, their congregation's chapel/meetinghouse is available free of charge for the ceremony or reception. Their Bishop is available to perform the ceremony free of charge as well. Otherwise, they may get married anywhere by anyone.

Answer:

Yes, however Mormons are strongly encouraged to marry in an LDS (Mormon) temple where it is believed that couples are bound as husband and wife for "time and all eternity" not just for "death do you part." With this in mind, only members of the LDS faith can enter LDS temples and Latter-day Saints who choose to marry a non-Mormon must do so outside the temple.

Answer:

I'm a Latter Day Saint (Mormon) who married a non-member. When we met he was getting ready to enter the seminary for the United Methodist Church. Because he was not a member we could not be married in the temple which I believe we could be sealed in for time and all eternity We were however married for time ("death do you part") and it was very special. If at some point my husband decides to join the church and be baptized and we proved our selves worthy we and all our children could be sealed in the church for the same time and all eternity just as if we had been originally married in the temple.

Mormons (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) are Christians, so of course they can!

Mormons can marry people who are not members of their church (even those who are not Christian) if they want. They will not be able to have their wedding ceremony in the temple, which is very important to many, but they will be able to have their wedding in their church meetinghouse or any other location, and their bishop is able to perform the ceremony free of charge.

Sure! It happens all the time. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" Church) can marry whoever they want, wherever they want.

For many church members, getting married in a temple is very important to them. Since only church members may enter the temple, a Mormon must marry another Mormon to have a temple marriage.

If a church member wants to marry someone that is of another faith (or no faith) that is perfectly acceptable, and it happens very frequently. They have the option of using a regular church meetinghouse for their ceremony and/or reception free of charge. The bishop is also liscenced to perform the ceremony (free of charge as well) in the church or at another location (outdoors, reception/events center, you name it!). A church member may also choose to be married by a civil authority or by a minister of another religion or denomination at any location of their choice.

Yes. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) can marry whomever they want. The Church suggests that married couples should have similar moral and religious standards to ensure a strong marriage relationship, and suggests that Church members should marry other Church members, but it is not a requirement. Mormons marry non-Mormons all the time!

Yes. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) are encouraged to marry those of the same faith, but it is not a requirement. A shared faith is often (but certainly not always) a factor in maintaining a strong and healthy marriage.

The Church's handbook for youth, 'For the Strength of Youth', encourages teens and young adults to "date only those who have high moral standards and in whose company you can maintain your standards". Obviously similar moral standards and religious beliefs can be found among members of many faiths, not just other Mormons.

The handbook also says that young adults should make marriage a priority and that they should "seek a companion who is worthy to go to the temple to be sealed to you for time and all eternity". Temple marriage or "sealing" is very important to most Mormons because it allows their family and marriage to remain intact in heaven and opens the door for further spiritual progression throughout the eternities. As only practicing Mormons are considered "worthy" to be sealed in a temple, this means that Mormons desiring the blessings of a temple sealing should try, where possible, to find a spouse within the church. However, you can't help who you love, and it is quite common for Mormons to marry outside the faith.

The only restriction a Mormon marrying outside the faith will face is that they cannot be "sealed" to their spouse in the temple, meaning that their marriage will last only through their mortal life and will not continue in heaven. Of course if the non-member spouse decides to convert to Mormonism, the couple can be sealed after the conversion. Also, if the non-member spouse dies, the living (Mormon) spouse can have them posthumously baptized and sealed if they believe it would have been their desire.

Mormons (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) believe that they are Christians, as they believe in salvation through Jesus Christ and The Bible as the word of God, but I understand what you are asking - can they marry someone from a Protestant/Evangelical/Catholic/Orthodox background?

The answer is yes, it happens all the time. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints may marry anyone they choose, from any religious background, Christian or otherwise. I know many faithful, practicing Mormons - even in my own family and congregation - whose spouses are members of other faiths or of no faith. The one caveat to a practicing Mormon marrying someone who is not a practicing Mormon (even if they are Mormon but not currently active in their congregation) is that they cannot marry in the Temple, and thus it is believed that their marriage will not continue in heaven. They may still marry in a Mormon church and/or be married by a Mormon bishop if they choose, but their marriage is only "until death do us part" and not an eternal union. Of course if the spouse decides at any time to convert or become active in the faith, they may have their marriage "sealed" at that time and their union will be eternal just as though they had married in the Temple.

Can morman's date non morman with a child?

Of course! Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church) can date whomever they choose. The Church does not tell people who they can and cannot date. The Church does suggest members should date those of similar high moral standards, and preferably those from the same faith, but this is not required. Most Mormons do choose to follow these guidelines because Mormonism is a very family-centered faith and it is important to them to marry and raise their children in the church.
