Yes, a bad intake gasket can cause coolant to mix with engine oil.

Indeed a bad lower intake can cause this. Who ever said the head gasket is a moron. You can't assume this all the time. This is why you have diagnostic tools such a a compression tester and a leak down tester. For example, my compression is good, and the valves are not leaking past the specs. However, there is air coming from the lower intake. The gasket is bad. Also, it's always suggested that you change the oil after the gasket just to be sure no water got in the oil pan from doing the gasket.

Could gas leak into the cooling system if the intake manifold gasket is bad it also has air bubbling inside the water reservoir?

A bad gasket can cause the air fuel mixture to enter the coolant stream, and cause bubbles in the overflow bottle. The gasket needs to be replaced.

What is the cause of the intake manifold head gasket blowing on an 1999' Chevy Suburban?

That is a common problem with the Vortec engines, First place the gasket is not made of much as you can see. Antifreeze eats the gasket up over time. The ORANGE antifreeze is BAD. If the Intake was OVER TORQUED that will cause it to leak/ Go bad too.
