my battery went bad with out warning take it to a auto parts store for a free check they will put a load on it to see if its okay

It happened to me once in my brief 60 years on this earth. The typical 12 volt lead acid car battery is made up of 6 cells, 2 volts each which are connected together internally by lead straps. Rarely strap connections or the straps themselves will fail resulting a 0 volt condition. This would hold true for other internal connections within the battery also ofcourse but this is the one I hear of most. Generally not something to worry about. Practically all battery failure occurs over time and gives plenty of warning in the form of slow cranking.

No. A bad battery is not causing your dash lights to go on and off. A different part is bad. Without equipment I have no idea what it is.

its either the alternator the battery is bad or a loose or bad wire on the starter

No, that will have no effect on the battery.

A completely dead battery or a bad connection to the battery.

No a bad batery could not cause the alternator to go bad .only if a big short happened to the battery and melted the cells in to a short inside the batt

The iPod Touch will eventually run out of battery when it is locked, but it will not drain instantly.

erm? no. it's battery can go bad, but it doesn't "expire".

It should start with new battery but your battery will go dead fast.

No, a bad coil will not drain the battery.

It is not likely; a fuse link is in series with the battery and will prevent current from flowing if it's bad, but will not itself run down the battery if the car or truck is off. What it can do is prevent the battery from charging. The power from the voltage regulator that charges the battery also has to go through that fuse link; if the fuse link is bad, the battery may not charge fully.

Either you have a bad battery or you have something draining it down overnight.

Yes. But if the short circuit is directly across the battery, then it doesn't harm it for very long, because the battery is destroyed almost instantly.

bad alternator, bad voltage regulator, bad battery, bad connections.

After you recharge the battery so many times it wont hold a charge anymore. It happened to me with my tv remote.

The battery light will be illuminated on the dashboard and later the battery will go flat as it is not getting charged Garages can check this for you if your battery is frequently getting flat.

A bad alternator will cause a battery to go bad. It does not have an effect on the air conditioner.

Bad battery connection, bad starter connection, bad negative ground to engine, battery to fender grounds, etc.

The headlights in a car usually dim slightly when the starter motor is used. This is because the starter generally pulls substantial current from the battery, and that causes the battery voltage to decrease. However, they should not go too dim... Excessiving dimming can be caused by a bad or undercharged battery, and bad starter, or bad wiring connections.

Usually when the battery light comes on its the Alternator, or a bad wire from Alternator to battery, but id check Alternator first.

Age, overuse, bad voltage from the battery
