Can a battery go bad instantly?
my battery went bad with out warning take it to a auto parts store for a free check they will put a load on it to see if its okay
It happened to me once in my brief 60 years on this earth. The typical 12 volt lead acid car battery is made up of 6 cells, 2 volts each which are connected together internally by lead straps. Rarely strap connections or the straps themselves will fail resulting a 0 volt condition. This would hold true for other internal connections within the battery also ofcourse but this is the one I hear of most. Generally not something to worry about. Practically all battery failure occurs over time and gives plenty of warning in the form of slow cranking.
It is not likely; a fuse link is in series with the battery and will prevent current from flowing if it's bad, but will not itself run down the battery if the car or truck is off. What it can do is prevent the battery from charging. The power from the voltage regulator that charges the battery also has to go through that fuse link; if the fuse link is bad, the battery may not…
The headlights in a car usually dim slightly when the starter motor is used. This is because the starter generally pulls substantial current from the battery, and that causes the battery voltage to decrease. However, they should not go too dim... Excessiving dimming can be caused by a bad or undercharged battery, and bad starter, or bad wiring connections.
Why would the headlights blower motor and other electronics go off intermittently on a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix?
Car batteries get re-charged by the alternator. If your battery recently went dead, "miles" is not what is measured to recharge the battery, "time" is used. I'd leave the car running for 15-30 minutes. Driving for this amount of time too is fine. If the battery goes dead again, probably a bad battery or bad alternator, or sometimes a bad alternator makes the battery go bad and they both need repaired. (typically a new alternator…
Dodge Durango 2000 8 cylinder battery not accepting charge will only run if connected to running vehicle alternator tested good any ideas?
Has the battery been tested, does the alternator on the Durango try to charge?... If the truck runs with the battery but the battery doesn't take or hold a charge, it has to be the battery being bad or extremely bad terminals so that the charge can't reach the battery. Age of the battery doesn't matter, a fairly new one can still go bad.
just happen to me today the flashing battery light means your alternator is going bad and it is draining your battery..so your car may crank a few minutes before, but may put you down while you're out and about so be careful where you drive, because your battery can lose power in less than a minute of driving because of the alternator..car will stall instantly.
Why wont your battery light go off when you changed your alternator and battery in your 99 mercury cougar?
Battery light usually means alternator not charging. Most common solutions would be be a bad alternator, bad connection, or loose alternator belt. If the battery and alt test ok than check the connections to the alternator and battery. You may also have a battery drain (something that is staying on and killing the battery)
Battery cables could be loose, battery could be bad, starter could be bad, starter solenoid could be bad, ignition switch could be bad. Turn on the headlights and try to crank the engine. If the headlights dim or go out look at the cables or battery. If they stay bright look at starter, solenoid or ignition switch. The neutral safety switch or clutch petal switch could do it too.
