It can run but if it is leaking coolant it will cause a problem soon.
The water pump is located behind the water pump pulley. The water pump pulley is the smooth pulley at the top closest to the front of the car. It is held in place by 4 bolts with 8mm heads. The pump is held in place with 5 bolts. Warm the engine to operating temperature before removing the bolts or they may break off causing you greif.
Failed water pump bearings, loose bolts. Remember : "Stuff Breaks"
Get the correct water pump and clutch for your car. Loosen the alternator and remove the fan. Remove the bracelets, hoses and the retaining bolts. Remove the water pump and replace it with the new one.
newer cars are easy. The water pump should be in a housing with four bolts on the top. Loosen the four bolts and everything inside the housing will come out and the housing will remain in the car. When you buy a new water pump, it wont be a whole water pump it will only be the insides. Put the insides back in the housing and bolt it back together.
Drain antifreeze. Jack Passenger side of car up. remove wheel well skirt. loosen pulley bolts on water pump before removing serpentine belt. loosen a/c compressor and slide forward about an inch. remove pulley from water pump. remove 4 bolts holding water pump in. remove water pump. reverse sequence to put new in.
Easy one.Warm engine to full operating temperature.Loosen, slightly 4 bolts from water pump pulley (smooth at the top, towards the fron of the car).Remove serpentine belt.Remove 4 pulley bolts.Drain radiator.Remove 5 water pump bolts and thoroughly clean any old gasket.Reverse procedure to install.
When the car is hot, presumably? Suspect a bad thermostat, stuck closed, a loose or missing water pump belt, a bad water pump, or low fluid-created air bubble @ the water pump.
Raise the car and support on jack stands Unbolt the dipstick from the waterpump. Unbolt the water inlet from the pump then remove the pipe and gasket Remove all the water pump bolts except the top one. Let the car down. Remove the top bolt. take it off.
In a car the water pump circulates coolant through the engine and to the radiator.
I have the same car. I also just had to replace the water pump. Cost me about 200. 1. Drain cooling system. 2. Loosen and disconnect hoses. 3. Remove the pulley bolts and the pulley (wedge a screwdriver between the two bolts to prevent the pulley from turning). Loosen all bolts before removing any of them. 4. Remove retaining bolts and remove water pump When installing, put a new gasket and sealant on the bolts. Good luck.
Loosen the bolts on the water pump pulley then take the serpentine belt off or loose, take the pulley off the water pump and then you will see the bolts that hold the pump to the block, take the bolts out and the pump is off, get new pump and put new gasket on the pump with permetex to hold it in place and let dry for about 10 minutes and make sure the engine mating surface is clean and then install new pump and tighten down the bolts, put the pulley back on and route the serpentine belt again and your finished except for adding a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze, also there is a bleed valve directly in back of the water pump that you want to open, start the car and when antifreeze comes out of the bleed valve close it back up and your done.
for my 99 camaro, i had to find it first, then i took the belt off, then i took the bolts off and got a razor, and scraped the old water pump gasket off the water pump, then i put silicone gasket maker on my water gasket and put that on the water pump that is attatched to your engine, then i put silicone gasket maker on the new water pump and then i stuck that on the other half of the water pump and bolted it back on, lol i figuered it out by myself and im 16 and that is the first time i worked on my car, hoped that helped
