What child, what age, what state, what judge?
in the state of nebraska how old does the child have to be in order to choose which parent they want to live with
what is the legal age for a child in the state of Texas decide which parent they want to live with
In the state of North Carolina, a child must attain the age of 18 before the child is old enough to decide for him/her self which parent they wish to live with.
A child cannot decide which parent to live with in the state of South Dakota because they are considered a minor. Only a person over 18 years of age can choose the parent they will stay with.
In the state of Florida it is 13.
As long as you are a minor you are not allowed to decide who you will live with.
Only Texas has that law, but with significant restrictions. In all other states, it's a case by case basis, with the Judge interpreting the maturity of the child, and their intent, but this still does not override other evidence in the child's best interest. It's just a piece of the evidence.see links below for additional info
