There are two method in which you can connect a hard drive to an xbox 360. The first and easiest method is to get a USB hard drive and plug the USB cable into one of the I/O ports (USB) on the xbox. The second method requires opening your xbox and soldering a S-ATA cable to the xbox hard drive header soldering points. The advantage of the second method is you can have all your content like music and videos as well as the game saves and xbox live updates all on the same hard drive.

∙ 15y agoNo, you cannot interchange them without drastically modifying the original drive. They use entirely different setup and connections, with the original box looking more like a PC inside than the 360 does. The 360 drive mounts on the outside of case, while the Xbox drive was internal. With all the heat issues that the 360 has, trying to even fit a heat-generating drive in there would be like instant death to the console.

∙ 13y agoYes you can. You just have to open/mod the official Xbox 360 hard drive to accept 2.5 inch hard drives. Doing so will void your warranty, though
