OK. I hope you're ready for this. Go to your hardware store. In the glue department is some metalized epoxy that is two solid sticks that you break off equal amounts and mix it together. Use this to fix the crack. Now comes the tricky part. This crack will continue to spread. Heating, cooling, vibration, will all work against you. You GOT to go to the very base of the crack, where good metal starts, and drill a small hole. This will stop the crack from spreading further (hopefully). Keep the shop vac sucking away filings as you drill. You don't want them getting into your engine. Now fill in the crack with your mixture. Use a putty knife and work it in very well. Let cure al least 24 hours. If you're lucky it will hold forever. If not, it cost you a couple of bucks.
Below the intake behind the alternator.
The alternator, or stator, is behind the pull-start cover on the right side of the engine.
The alternator is located behind the engine and almost directly below the intake manifold.
Thet are usually intergrated with the engine, behind the flywheel.
The Alternator is between the engine and the firewall. Follow the serpentine behind the engine and you'll see the alternator. Removing the alternator is easiest if you remove the passenger side front tire and the plastic mud guard. Once they are both off, the alternator is easy to change.
Nothing good, I can tell you that. Anything from a warped head, cracked head, warped block, cracked block, and basicly, a blown engine.
on the 4.2 engine its behind the alternator, right by the thermostat housing, you have to remove the alternator to get better access.
On the 1.6lt petrol engine, directly behind the alternator.
It is located on diver side behind the cylinder head.
Mounted behind the engine on the passenger side. It has its own belt.
If you do it yourself the alternator will cost around $200.00 and 2 days labor. My son just did mine and it was horrible. The alternator sits on the passenger side firewall behind the engine. Dealerships will charge anything from $700 and up to do it, most of that cost will be the labor. Good Luck
Front left of engine. Behind radiator and fans, halfway down
