All elective dental treatments should be done after you have given birth. Any dental extraction should be done when pregnant only if it is urgent to remove it. no b/c the meds that the doc gives you could be harmeful to the baby

yes you can get work done on your teeth while pregnant. all you have to do is tell your dentist or a dentist in general that you are having teeth issues and what the issues are and they will be able to fix it. with no problem at all. call a dentist and tell them what is wrong with your teeth or tooth and they will fix it as fast as possible.

That is totally up to your obstitrician/gynecologist. Generally a dentist won't do anything until they have a written ok from him/her to procede with any treatment. Your obstitrician/gynecologistwill also tell the dentist what anesthesia is ok, if any treatment is allowed. Sorry there is no easy yes or no answer... If you can, it is better to wait after you give birth.

yes you can actually you can have more than just an extraction. Root canals are also a common dental procedure performed during pregnancy. Just be weary of how far along you are due to tooth x-rays that might be involved, other than that you should be fine. Unless of course your afraid of the dentist...like in my case!

Yes, you can have dental surgery while pregnant. The dentist will want a note from the Ob. We try to avoid major surgery involving general anesthesia unless it's medically necessary.

Pulling tooth should only require regional anesthesia such as local numbing agents. These drugs should not harm the pregnancy.

I wouldn't recommend it. The extraction of wisdom teeth causes a fair amount of blood loss and this may be detrimental to the growth of a baby.

It´s very important that you go. Everything changes in your body when pregnant and so does the saliva. many women get more cavaties when pregnant so it´s important to follow that up.

Is it safe to have wisdom teeth removed under anesthetic or laughing gas while pregnant?

that is a question only your doctor can answer. It would probably depend on what was used and any meds taken. I totally agree with the above poster. Usually your doctor would tell you when you are first pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant to get your teeth in shape. Carrying a baby takes a lot of calcium out of your body, thus more problems with your teeth so if they are not in the greatest shape you are going to have problems. I wouldn't think giving you laughing gas or anesthetic a good idea. I had my wisdom teeth taken out with just plain old freezing. If your wisdom teeth aren't bothering you let it go for now. If they are bothering you it would be wise if you asked your doctor to put you in the hospital to have this procedure done. Good luck

If wisdom teeth cause your teeth to get crooked Do your teeth get straight after you get your wisdom teeth extractions?

Not necessarily. Teeth tend to become more crowed as we age, especially the lower front teeth. This happens in some people regardless of whether they have wisdom teeth or not. Therefore, removing the wisdom teeth, solely for the purpose of hoping to get naturally straighter teeth, won't work.

Is it ok to have your wisdom teeth taken out while pregnant and taking iron pills?

That is up to your dentist and ob/gyn. They will both probably say to wait until the baby is born, but it's possible that they will both say it's OK for you. It is better to wait after you have given birth.

Why do you have to have your wisdom teeth extracted when they come in?

Wisdom teeth should be extracted when they push and damage the 7th tooth while they grow, also when they develop a cyst or cause an infection, and wisdom teeth are removed if they're causing problems with prosthesis. Here's an interesting video about wisdom tooth extraction.

What happens when you receive general anesthetic during wisdom teeth removal while pregnant?

The risks are the same as when a woman is not pregnant. I don't know any risks related toward the baby. You can do local anesthesia instead, to reduce the risks of general anesthesia.

What happen if you get your wisdom teeth taking out while pregnant?

I had one wisdom tooth pulled while I was 5 months pregnant and it hurt really bad! First of all i had to have an X-ray so they put 4 of those vests on me and then since they couldn't give me novacaine they gave me lidocaine which is like nothing! I felt my tooth crack!! It hurt so bad. Then because I was pregnant, I wasn't allowed to take anything but tylenol. I might as well been popping tic tacs because the pain was excrutiating for days! If I were you I'd do my best to wait. Unless the pain is that unbearable. Sorry Im just being honest.

Do you have to get your wisdom teeth pulled?

It's not necessary for you to get your wisdom teeth removed if they are correctly positioned in your mouth and do not cause any pain or dental problems. Visit Wisdomteethsydney.com.au
