Can a dog get a sunburn on his scalp?

Absolutely! Dogs with light colored hair and dogs with short hair are particularly at risk. The most common place is on the scalp where there is a natural part in the coat, but also on the bridge of the nose, belly/thigh/groin area. You can put sunscreen on your dog (as long as it doesn't contain anything toxic since your dog will lick it off) SPF 15 or higher. If your dog is already burnt you can use 100% aloe vera to sooth the discomfort.
