Yes for the vast majority. You will have to remove the old venting system, but the usually the size of the new cooktop is the key factor. Make sure you have plenty of space to include a vent hood above your cooktop, especially regarding gas burner you need to specific clearance between the cooktop and hood. See the related link below for the exact dimensions.

How much more electricity does an electric cooktop use than a gas cooktop?

An electric cooktop uses a great deal more electrical energy than a gas cooktop. The electric portion of the gas cooktop runs the electronics (clock, timer, ignitor, oven light, etc.), and these are small electrical loads. An electric cooktop uses more electrical energy cooking a batch of, say, pasta sauce, than a gas cooktop would normally use in a month or two. There just isn't a good comparison as there is such a broad difference in the electrical usage of the two units.

When converting from a downdraft electric cooktop to a gas cooktop can the gas line go through the downdraft opening?

No. There is a possibility, no matter how remote, that flame from the cooktop could enter the downdraft opening. If there's a gas line in there, bad things will happen, need I say more?

How do you change a vent solenoid on a 2006 silverado?

you have to be more specific but a gas tank vent solenoid is usually underneath the vehicle by the tank. The charcoal canister vent solenoid is on the charcoal canister in the engine compartment. Both are replaced with a screwdriver or sockets. (Charcoal Canister and Vent/Purge Solenoid on this vehicle are located in front of the gas tank. Mounted to the gas tank and frame under the drivers door.)
