Define always work. Everything will eventually wear out and break. The question posed is the same as will my DS always work. The answer there is no. Is your charger broken?

∙ 12y agoNo. The regular DS/GBA charger, and the DS lite charger, do not work with a 3DS. But the DSi charger does.

It would be pointless to keep the charger unless you have a second DS Lite with which to use it. The DS series have different types of chargers for each individual DS, so a DS Lite charger would not work with a DSi.
