I have a pacemaker in both venticals, can I have a cat scan on my head?

Yes....even if you have leads in both ventricles. In 20 plus years of performing CT scans at a very busy academic practice, there has never been a reported problem with a head CT in someone with a cardiac pacemaker.

It depends. The magnetic and radio frequency energies used for MRI imaging can be very damaging to pacemakers. Depending on the vintage of the pacemaker, the patient's need for the pacer's operation, and the option of using other imaging tools to diagnose the patient, it may be possible to image the patient with MRI under very carefully controlled conditions. This typically means having the cardiologist / electrophysiologist there during the scan, as well as someone to reprogram the pacer both before and after the MRI scan.

Some device patients, because of their condition, the particulars of their pacemaker, or both, may be positively contraindicated for an MRI exam.

Yes you can, but only if you have an MRI safe pacemaker. There is 1, as of 2011, Medtronic makes a "surescan" pacemaker, there are limitations, the MRI can only be 1.5 Tesla.

Can people with pacemakers have an MRI and a Cat Scan?

People with pacemakers can have any CT scan. The answer for MRI is changing now. Older pacemakers were not MRI compatible. There are new pacemakers being installed that are MRI compatible (up to a certain size MRI strength). When you had your pacemaker installed, you should have received a card telling the technologist about your pacemaker and if it is safe to enter the MRI that will be used. If you did not get the card or have lost that card contact the office of the doctor that put your pacemaker in and ask them and also request another card.

What is the difference between a body cat scan and a general cat scan?

They are just as they say. An abdominal cat scan is just of that area and a pelvic cat scan is just of that area. Usually if an abdominal cat scan is ordered a pelvis is included so as to cover all things in both areas but if a pelvic cat scan is ordered it usually does not include the abdomen.
