Mary, I have friends in the repo biz in GA that swear they can do all kinds of unlawful stuff in those little GA towns. And get away with it. They quote laws that I cant find in the GA code. Probably they are smarter than me.legis.state.gaBut I wonder why you ask. If YOU are the owner, why will you NOT return the car? IF you are the repo co. why do you not know where the car is? If you are the LENDER, why is the car 524 days in arrears? I think everyone in GA is smarter than me, because I cant figure out the answer to these questions. LOLOLOL call the local DA and see if they can get a warrant for the owner. Good Luck
It's not "illegal" if there is a code section (criminal law) for it, and in Georgia, there is.
There is a criminal code section in Georgia for "Conceling property subject to security interest" that has been enforced with success. Doesn't matter if it's a "small town" or a big city, this is state law.
You can't keep property that has a security interest in it, as it is not fully yours to keep.
Yes, as a Legal repo agent, I can tell you with certainty that a legal warrant can be issued..I have signed many myself!! If there is a lien on the title and the debtor is in possession of the unit tan a warrent can be issued as early as 30 days dequlient!!Since the debtor isn't the legal owner and ran they are basically in possession of a stolen vehicle...If this is about you i reccommend you leave the car with a local rep of your lending company..if not a warrant may or may not be issued..We don't like to to it b/c it says to the lender that we arent able to get the car back...So it will either be found or turn it in...We make our living repoing not having warrants issued
