Best Answer

Yes. If the tsunami is large enough, the sea water will flood the area, carrying away plants, trees, caras, signs, and other loose items in the street. In many cases, the force of the water rushing into buildings is so strong, it causes the base to weaken and the whole structure would eventually colapse.

Absolutely. Marked by a series of waves only a few feet high and a hundred miles or more apart, traveling around 600 mph and starting in deep ocean waters, as a tsunami approaches shallower water it begins to slow down in speed; in turn, allowing the waves to decrease the distance between them while significantly increasing in height. Once a tsunami finally strikes the coast, subsequently in striking range of bridges, the crest of its waves may reach heights of 100 ft, travel inland at 30 mph, and at intervals anywhere from 5 to 40 minutes between each wave. Unfortunately, and more often than not, the first wave is not the largest. If a bridge isn't directly destroyed by tsunami waves, damage to Coastlines and/or foundations may cause its destruction. Therefore, perhaps a more appropriate and perplexing question would be: can a bridge survive a tsunami?

Yes it can. Depending on the size and force of the wave it caused, location and construction of the house.

No. Tsunamis can devastate coastal areas but usually don't go far past that.

ANY tsunami has the ability to cause damage to objects along the ocean shore. The size and magnitude of the tsunami will determine how far inland you'd need to go to be safe.
