you can drag any folder or file into Limewire and it will share it. Or go to tools, options, then sharing. Or go to the Library and right click on any of the left menu items and select share file or share folder. If you can't see the Library tab go to View, Show/Hide, Library.

As LimeWire has been closed down by a court injunction (See links below) WikiAnswers cannot supply information which may lead to illegal activities.

Open the folder that has the downloaded files. To transfer drag the files from LimeWire onto your external hard drive

If you have recently lost your LimeWire files, you can use system restore under the open tab. This will restore your computer to the point where you had the files.

No you do not loose the information. When it reinstall it only replaces the exe files and registry files. Your downloaded information is safe. Though I highly recommend you not use lime wire.

Using Limewire is not illegal. Limewire is a P2P file sharing utility. If you share files which are copyrighted and without a licence or permission then that is illegal.

the program limewire is not a virus but some of the files on limewire are viruses

LimeWire is a file sharing network, Shhhhhhh! It doesnt have "limewire files" those files were created with other programs on another persons computer. When you download a file make sure you know exactly what you are going to get, or your PC will end up in the hospital. To answer your question... yes, but not all "limewire files" are what they are labeled as.

My experience is that you cannot play the files you have downloaded once you have deleted Limewire. I just did. I do not have limewire any longer.

Yes. LimeWire can only share files while it is running.

Limewire itself is safe. However the files you download using it may not be.

Limewire is not illegal. Limewire is a perfectly legal P2P agent. Downloading certain files may be illegal if they are copyrighted or you do not have permission.

LimeWire was shut down by US Courts for violating copyright law.

The Limewire software download itself is safe, but a large quantity of the files online aren't.

No matter what version of LimeWire, it is never 100% safe and still has files for download with viruses.

limewire is illegal no matter what. However, in most countries it is much more difficult to monitor and prosecute users who do not share their files. It would be wise to turn off the sharing mode in limewire.

Well yes you are safe from the law, but your not exactly. Unless you remove all downloaded content from limewire then technically you are still breaking the law by having illegal copies of media. Also if you have imported and music or files from limewire into another program, I suggest you get rid of these files as a little box will appear from limewire saying that some files are corrupt, although they are not, because limewire is not there. If these files are not deleted then limewire will corrupt your whole system as I found out last year. I ended up having to re-format. The safest thign to do is remove limewire and all file downloaded by it, no matter what program they're in.

You don't. Limewire is a program that allows the sharing of files - usually illegally. Some people post videos, programs etc on limewire with the intention of spreading malicious content, like viruses, spyware and many more. If you have an antivirus program/firewall, this does offer some protection, but not total. Again, files shared through Limewire are generally illegal.

when you download music from limewire it automatically goes to a folder in MyDocuments called Limewire. In your music player or Itunes or whatever you have open the limewire files there and then sync to your mp3

Limewire is said to make sharing and searching for files easy, yet in many cases it is said to give a virus once installed and used. Files obtained from Limewire should be scanned by an antivirus program before use.

you have to share limewire with your itunes. In itunes/limewire, share the files, and the songs will automatically go onto your itunes. Then do what you would normally.

No. Limewire (the free version) without you noticing will fill your computer with all sorts of files that are viruses. Limewire PRO now comes with an anti-virus...

Umm, no. You're not sharing files when LimeWire is shut down so there's no way somebody can access your IP. You could also make it so that you don't share any files so then nobody can view your IP address and you can still download as many files as you'd like.

LimeWire was shut down because US Courts found it violating copyright law.
