Can anyone become a witch

Yes anyone can be a Wiccan you do not have to be a blood relative of another Wiccan! Anyone can join Wicca! You just have to follow some rules just like a christian! Satan does not exist in the religion Wicca! I just joined Wicca 3 days ago(it is 12/5/09 now) that is how I know you can. Plus I have been searching the internet since I became a Wiccan and everything said that "anyone can be a Wiccan."

Anyone can become a Witch if they spend time learning what Witchcraft is and how to put it into practise. This isn't the sort of stage magic that can just be learned one trick at a time, and there are no "instant spells" to turn someone into this or that. Nor is becoming a witch about being "cool" or having power over people.

Practising the craft involves understanding that you are part of millennia old history, that everything in this universe is connected, that you are merely a small cog in a very large machine, but at the same time, you are very important cog and can influence all the other cogs around you.

Take a look in your local book store, at the new age/ pagan/ wiccan shelves, and pick up what you can on pagan history and witchcraft. I'd steer clear of any "spell books" just yet, until you are experienced enough to sift through the fluff and get to what is important. Check in your local new age store to see if any group meetings are advertised - classes on witchcraft and spiritual practises, discussion groups, talks etc. The more experience you can get, the better.

Eventually there will come a point where you wish to start putting what you are learning into practise. When this time comes, take your time to prepare, don't rush things, and don't put any pressure on yourself, just keep it simple. Perhaps start with a short meditation to ground yourself, then practise casting a circle (if you wish to use a circle) and cleansing/ consecrating any magickal items you want to use, close your circle, thank Spirit and the ancestors, and finish. Then build up your rituals from there.

It's a good idea to keep a book (some call this a book of shadows), to record your progress. You could start with a review of the books you read, notes on what to read/ watch/ do next, and note down any rituals you perform, things that are discussed in classes/ groups etc. This will form a nice diary of magickal experience for you which you can look back on, add to, and use as a learning tool at any time.
