The S refers to sterling silver, and the 115 refers to the ring being 11.5% sterling. The triangle and TD are very likely a maker's mark.

What are some uses of trigonometry in carpentry?

The Pythagorean Theorem: a^2+b^2=c^2, for checking squareness, a critical rule in carpentry. If two adjacent and perpendicular walls in a room are legs of a triangle, points a and b can be marked on each leg respectively and hypotenuse c measured with a tape measure (c) to confirm squareness or degree out of square. This can be used in many applications from framing to tiling. Most carpenters I've met use the 3-4-5 rule and don't even know what it's called!

How do you calculate sin inverse?

Sin or Sine is the ratio of the Opposite side Over The Hypoteneuse of any right angled triangle inverse sin or inverse sine ( they mean the same thing ) uses the same ratio to find an unknown angle and can be written as sin-1 so if you know two sides ( opposite and Hypoteneuse ) then you can work out the sin...then you can either use a calculator to determine the inverse ( or angle ) or you could look up the sin in a booklet of sin values and determine the angle Example : in the triangle ABC the line ab=4 ac = 5 and the angle abc =90 we could find the sin of the angle acb sinacb= opp/hyp = 4/5 = 0.8 to find sin-1 of 0.8 calcultor press 0.8 press inv button or on newer calculators the 2nd functon button then press the button marked sin the display should then display 53.1301....or 53 to 2 sig figures

How do you find cosine on a scientific calculator?

Look for a button marked "cos". Note that some calculators have degrees, radians and other measurements. So check you are in the right mode.

When doing trigonometry for example the cosine rule how do you know which side is a which side is b and which side is c if none of them are marked on and neither are the angles?

It's possible that either the angles or sides are labeled according to length or size.

How do you draw angles greater than 180?

First, if the angle is 360° or more, find the remainder of the angle divided by 360 - this is as 360° represents a full turn. If you have a 360° protractor just measure off the angle. If you only have a 180° protractor, then there are two ways it can be done as the protractor is marked so that 0° - 180° can be measured from either end of the base line: Method 1: excess over 180° 1) Subtract 180° from the angle to get the excess over 180°. 2) Place the protractor on the line, centred on the vertex of the angle on the left of the line, with the top 0°/180° mark on the line. 3) Measure the excess over 180° calculated in step 1 from the bottom 0° mark of the protractor. 4) Draw in the second angle arm - the reflex angle (measured clockwise) is as required. Method 2: acute/obtuse angle of the reflex angle to complete a full turn 1) Subtract the angle from 360° to get the angle which completes the full turn 2)Place the protractor on the line, centred on the angle vertex on the left of the line, with the top 0°/180° mark on the line. 3) Measure the angle to complete the full turn calculated in step 1 from the top 0° mark of the protractor (on the line). 4) Draw in the second angle arm - the reflex angle (measured clockwise) is as required. The above assume a clockwise angle is being drawn from a vertical line with the angle vertex at the bottom. For anticlockwise angles, place the protractor on the right of the line. For a non-vertical line [mentally] rotate the paper so that the first arm of the angle is vertical with the angle vertex at the bottom.

What is the tangent of a triangle?

In that triangle, one of the angles must be a right angle, and another one of the angles must be marked with or the measurement of the angle. Tangent is the ratio of opposite side over adjacent side. The opposite and adjacent sides are determined by the position of the marked angle.

If a package of tofutti pops is marked as having 12 pops inside, the box should contain 12 pops. If there were only 11 tofutti pops inside the box, it is likely that there was a packaging error.
